Hinty jQuery Plugin
If you're reading this, you're probably looking for a simple way to improve user experience (UX) on your website or project by adding helpful hints to input fields and textareas. I was too! So, I put together this little plugin that takes the title attribute from an input and sticks it into the field itself. It renders the hint text untouchable but intact as a user focuses on the field. Once a key is pressed, the hint text disappears and the user continues to type as normal. I didn't find any other plugins that do exactly this so here's one for everyone to use.
Note: Once the hint is applied the input field gets a class of hint_text which lets you style the text within the input only when the hint is active. This gives you the flexibility to differentiate between hint text and user input text, while maintaining cohesion with your design.
